This morning, in light of our nation’s celebration of freedom this week, I want to look at a very familiar text & discuss spiritual freedom. This by the way is the greater freedom. You see, a true believer living in the most oppressive country in the Middle East possesses a greater freedom, a greater liberty than most politically free Americans who are lost & held captive to sin. Sadly, though we live in the land of the free (at least politically), the majority of citizens in our nation are spiritually enslaved, they are not free. Let me move even closer – many people setting on church pews today are not truly free. Sure, they’re religious & profess spiritual freedom; but they only have an external form of godliness & lack the inward, divine power that liberates a true believer from sin.
