Spiritual Anchor Bolts

This week we want to discuss how a believer firms up his faith upon his sure foundation. According to the National Building Code in America, homes must be anchored to their foundations. Why is that? To keep a structure from being uprooted, damaged, or perhaps destroyed in the event of adverse weather, floods, strong winds, earthquakes, etc. Spiritually speaking, Peter is going to give us the anchor bolts we need to strengthen our faith & lives so that we won’t be shaken, blown about, or dismantled when adversity comes. Now, the anchor bolts which attach us to our foundation is truth; specifically, they are the Bible doctrines concerning our salvation. Believer, if you don’t bolt your faith down into the knowledge of Christ with these blessed doctrines, then you will be “tossed to & fro, & carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, & cunning craftiness (Eph. 4:14),” or you’ll be continually shaken or collapsing with your every changing circumstances & emotions.
