Hell is an unpopular subject today, even in the church. The world dismisses it as an ancient myth & tragically, within the evangelical community, there is a growing movement to do away with the doctrine of this place of eternal damnation. One of the heretics championing this renewed push to erase the truth about hell from the Bible is Rob Bell. A few years back Time magazine labeled him “a singular rock star in the church world.” This former pastor of Mars Hill Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan has been so widely applauded that his books like the one called Love Wins is being used in virtually every Christian denomination in America. The reason this book has received so much global notoriety is because it promotes the concept of Universalism. If you’re unfamiliar with the term, Universalism, in short, is the belief that there is no hell, GOD is too loving for that, & everyone, regardless of belief system, will go to heaven. Sounds good to the ears, right? The world loves this message that everybody wins no matter what they do or don’t do. The problem with this belief is that it is false. The Bible does not teach any such thing.
