Lessons From Jonah

The little book of Jonah is far more than the account of a great fish. It is a mirror for every believer's heart. In this message we walk back through Jonah's story and draw out six lessons for the child of God. A believer cannot outrun the Lord, for even in flight His goodness pursues us and leads us to repentance. God's salvation is for all people, even those we would rather see judged. Sound theology is no substitute for a surrendered heart, because a person can quote Scripture from the depths and still be sinking in sin. The power to save rests in God's Word itself, not in the eloquence of the messenger, as eight words from a reluctant prophet brought one of the greatest citywide revivals in Scripture. God sovereignly works through every circumstance, from storms and fish to plants, worms, and wind, to accomplish His purpose in us. And true godliness is more than outward obedience; it is a heart that loves what God loves and cares about what God cares about.
