After Jesus Christ rose from the dead, He made six different appearances in and near Jerusalem over the course of a week (five the first Sunday morning & another the following Sunday night). When you come to John chapter 21, we know that some time has passed. Most scholars suggest that at least 3 to 4 weeks had passed since Jesus’ last appearance. This period between the resurrection & ascension of Christ was a transitional period for the disciples. It was a dramatic change in life for them. For the last three years they had spent their days following Christ physically. But, now Christ is only with them physically in these brief appearances. It must have been difficult & strange for the disciples to go these many days without seeing the Lord. What are they to do now in His physical absence?
