Nothing can knock you down in life like unexpected tragedy or catastrophic bad news. It can rattle you to the core, overwhelm your emotions, cause your soul to faint, & send you spiraling downward into despair. It might be a tragedy like a health problem, a home destroyed by fire, the death of a loved one, a prodigal child, etc. Then the questions begin to arise: Why did this happen? What is GOD trying to tell me? How am I going to make it through this crisis? That’s where David is in the opening of chapter 30. David literally finds himself in the midst of disaster & ruin. He’s lost his family. He’s lost his home. He’s lost his possessions. And he’s lost all of these things for his soldiers too.
